To my handful of readers, Hello! And thank you!

Hi! Hello! Hola, Bonjour, Hallo, Anyonghaseyo, Kumusta!

Yes, you! Thanks for reading. It seems I’ve been collecting my thoughts, at least the ones I’m able to write about, which are few and far between, on this little blog for over a year now. Much to my surprise, I’ve been able to keep it up. Parenthood kind of keeps you on your toes in a way that’s unlike any other experience because there is always something new, so it’s exciting to share it here. And every so often I get in a slump in which I question the whole purpose and point of this blog. The blogosphere is just so saturated nowadays, and I can’t seem to figure out how to “grow readership” or if it should be a goal to “monetize my blog” and if “mommy blogging is my niche” and yada yada. That, and I seem to only have 2 official followers that I am aware of. Sometimes I feel like I am throwing my thoughts and experiences out into the internet abyss for no one to ever read or see. Yet, sometimes simply casting something out there is good enough for me, for the creativity and tension releasing aspect if anything.

And then you happen! Friends, family, acquaintances, friends of family, co-workers of family, fellow mommy bloggers…person randomly looking for free activities in L.A. You come here and read it. And sometimes, if you know me personally, you will tell me in person that you like to read my blog, to which I respond, “YOU READ MY BLOG? I FEEL LIKE NO ONE EVER READS MY BLOG!”

You know who you are.

So I’ll let you in on a little secret. This has happened more than a handful of times, and every single time it happens, I get this sense of fulfillment. A small part inside of my heart that smiles, or rather, beams, with happiness because someone is listening. Oftentimes, as a stay-at-home-mommy/writer, on the days when you only have a 14-month-old to converse with, my brain gets tired and my soul gets a little lonely and in need of a somewhat-intellectual-not-blabbing-related conversation. I turn to this blog to tell a story, or write what I’m feeling, or post silly pictures, or talk about how L.A. is cool but ain’t no Bay Area. Although oftentimes it feels like no one is on the other end of the line, the hope that someone will read and enjoy it someday, keeps me going.

My goal is to get better at writing. My goal is to be the best parent for my child. My goal is to share stories and make people think and laugh, or heck, even cry. My ultimate goal, which I also wish for my daughter and partner, is to keep growing in positive and thoughtful ways. This blog is a space to share all that, and more.

So, reader, this is a post to simply say hello and thank you. Thank you so much for reading, whether you know me personally or not at all…whether you’re on the toilet, at work, in bed…for pulling out your mobile device or laptop and letting me lend you some thoughts to devour. And thanks for personally stepping up to me and saying, “Hey, I read your blog…”

If you feel like it, in that space below where it says “Comment,” feel free anytiiiiiiime, to leave one and just day “Hi!” so I know who you are. I get it, it feels a little awkward, but you can rest easy in knowing that I do, indeed, see them!

I can’t wait to keep writing about life in this space.

On a final note, here’s a picture of Josephine and a goat:
